I don't think you understood the ending. Armin thanking Eren does not mean he approves of mass murder, but Eren is not a machine, he's still human. But a human with the godlike powers, as a human he decided to dehumanize himself for the sake of his friends. Because in the end everything Eren does, he does for his friends, not for all of humanity, not even for all the Eldians, just for that few people he holds dear. And Armin thanks Eren for giving up on his future, for giving him, Mikasa and the rest a chance to live long and happy lives. What is achieved in the end? Freedom, Eldians are free, all the ghettoes have been abolished, cycle of hatred is no longer, the proof of that is the mission at the end of the chapter, people of continent want to have peace. But Paradis is arming up Yes, because they don't know, they're still scared of being hated, so they are still much like they were before the Rumbling. And we don't know if there will be peace, because Historia may still decide to attack after the mission is over, but there is a will of peace on one side, something that wasn't there 3 and more years ago. So the cycle was broken, and it's up to the people if they bring it back or not. Solution to human conflict isn't mass genocide, because again, Eren did it for his friends to have long and happy lives, also he didn't end the conflict, he only gave a chance to end it. Forgive me for saying this but you really missed a lot in that last chapter, Continent changed and accepted that Eldians are the same humans as they are and they're all equal, Armin and the gang are free, they are heroes, so noone will act against them, at least not the masses. And if there are people that are still against them, they're minority, and you can't blame Eren that there are still people who would chose evil ways. Was Eren's actions good? Hell no, and no sane person would say that, but did he made a change? Definitelly. Is the change for the better? We don't know, that's for the people to decide what they'll do with what they were given. I'm not saying you must like the ending but there's a lot of what I believe is misunderstanding in your comment so i tought I could've clear some of that up.

I hated the ending. Eren killed 80% of all humanity and he is still somehow the hero of the story it's nuts. After that moment when Armin says to Eren thank you for commiting mass murder for our sake, I went numb. At the end what was achieved? Humanity is still trapped in the cycle of hatered. The characters didn't achieve any meaningfully kind of freedom. The curse of titan was lifted but so what? It was emphasized in the story that modern thechnology would render the titans obsolete as weapons anyway. So the conclusion of the story is that the solution to human conflict is enteral war and mass genocide. F*ck that is messed up. All eren achieved really was render the world unable to retaliate against paradise, but that is not going to last forever. One day they will recover enough to take their revenge and it's going to be viscious. The cycle of revenge and violence haven't been broken. The characters aren't free. In the end Eren was just another spoke on a wheel. He may have saved his immediate friends and family but their children and grand children will face the full wrath of the sins he committed. And thus the cycle continues. At the end Eren was just a mass murderer, the worst in any kind of story and I will forever hate attack on titan for portraying him as anything less than evil. He would put Hitler to shame.
