So after watching this, I had to go back and re-watch the saiyan saga. A few things; I'm currently raising my own 5 yr old and the urge to have a Piccilo around to train him up is very strong. Also, his initial relationship with Vegeta, a man who ends up being a close link to his past and heritage,terrorized him and crushed his father nearly to death in front of him. Sure there's plenty of violence in this series but Vegeta's rampage here is sadistic and extreme. It's a testament to Gohan's training and composed nature that he isn't a gibbering, scarred mess.
