Star Wars works best for me as light adventure. Anytime it starts taking itself too seriously, it tends to lose me. (I'll leave pretentiously serious to Star Trek, thank you very much.) A story where every single protagonist dies tends to fall into that catagory of serious and heavy, so overall this didn't land well with me.
It's got cool stuff in it, like it's fun to see force users outside the Jedi/Sith traditions.
But it also goes a long way out of its way to fix a "plot hole" that was never a plot hole until some nerd decided it made him sound smart to say the Death Star reactor exhaust port was one. It's an assertion about as dumb as "Raiders of the Lost Ark would have had the same conclusion without Indiana Jones", another pseudo smart-take I hear often.

This is the proper way to see it
Just like how fans want the original trilogy seen first, rogue one is to be seen before andor

The mandalorian , Han Solo , the book of Boba Fett , these are all excellently directed and produced. Specially Obi-Wan got to watch. Very heart-wrenching what Kenobi finds out Anakin is still alive hiding behind the mask. The battle confrontation epic.

Yes they should have watched Andor before rogue one. Should have got to know how Cassien became.

The animated shows the Clone Wars and Rebels did excellent work at fleshing out the blocks of time that are between Episodes 2 and 3 and then 3-4
Both shows as a result had fans realize the story runs deeper than first thought when it was just the movies they saw in theaters and watched again on videotape and DVD
The Rebel Alliance was brought together over a lengthy period
It wasn't always a strong unit; in fact, the Alliance were originally splinter groups going their own way fighting against the Imperial regime and eventually fate intervened and caused each group to start merging and pooling resources that will augment their chances at making a dent in the Empire's armor
The setup you guys saw in Episode 4 and this movie was around for roughly a year or a year and a half, so this was a rough going making this effort work
The gaps filled in make you appreciate Star Wars more; this all makes you not want to stop watching

I absolutely hope you'll decide to evolve your channel and bring TV shows on here as well
How awesome would it be to start off that list of shows than with a Star Wars show?! I would be over the moon!
Definitely start with the Mandalorian to get your feet wet
You can get to Andor season 1 whenever you'd like but I hope it's later this year when you do want to start reacting to it
Season 2 had its shooting delayed because of the actors and writers strikes that went on for most of 2023
(I don't know if you knew about that)
As a point of note, the Mandalorian is the beginning of a small interconnected storyline that involves four shows: this one, one called The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka (a character created in the animated show the Clone Wars I mentioned) and a Goonies-like show called Skeleton Crew that should release sometime early next year (another victim of the strikes)
This entire story will be concluded in a crossover-event movie that will be in theaters in the next few years so hang on tight for that one

Saw Gerrera had a rocky life
He was taught how to fight in warfare by Anakin and Obi-Wan during the Clone Wars
During his first battle against the Separatist Droid Army, his sister that was trained along with him was killed
She was the only family he had and this loss sank him into an endless pit of pain and dejection
From then on, he fought every future battle in her memory
As the Republic fell and was taken over by the Empire, Saw used his skills as a soldier to become an ultra-extremist, as you've seen in this movie
He behaved more and more erractically because he grew really paranoid thanks to all of the missions he went on that shook his trust in everybody he interacted with, "friend" or foe
The death of his sister and the paranoia labeled Saw Gerrera as a ticking time bomb if you crossed him the absolutely wrong way
He's appeared in the animated shows the Clone Wars and Rebels, which I suggest you start watching on your own and get the kids in on the fun
They'll love them

This movie also gives you extra lore that I hope whetted your appetite that will lead you to want to learn more
It explored the world that lays outside the bounds of the Skywalker Saga
It may have walked the borders of that story but THIS story was still its own
Jedha, for example, gave you guys a tiny glimpse of the Jedi religion, all of those statues and monuments that lay in ruin, either by natural occurrence or by the Empire's way of spitting on the near-extinct race
If you didn't notice, the Jedi Order probably got its name from the moon's name, or vice versa
Also, since you love Chirrut and Baze, they're part of a creed called the Guardian of the Whills
A fundamental charge was to protect the sacred temples of the Holy City especially the kyber temple but they also had a more strict recognition of what the Force is telling them and acted upon it
They are parallel to the practices of the Jedi but are still separate in execution
Baze had similar cynicisms to his religion to Luke's in the Last Jedi
In the end, like Luke, Baze recognized he can be a weapon of hope and resilience so the saga continues to rhyme in countless scenarios

Darth is not a first name
It's only a title that's given to a christened Sith Lord
Examples are Darth Sidious AKA the Emperor, Darth Maul from Episode 1 and Darth Tyranus AKA Count Dooku from Episodes 2 and 3

You have the option to keep Cassian Andor closer to your heart forever because there's a Disney+ show that depicts how Cassian got pushed into the fight to dismantle the Empire
It's called Andor
In it, Cassian is just like Jyn, a cynical criminal and thief that only wants to keep himself afloat and not worry about anybody else
The show is 5 years before Episode lV, so Rogue One pretty much
It has two seasons in total, one is already released and the other is finishing up filming right now
Season 1 is, as I said, 5 years before RO
Season 2 will be in increments, 3 episodes will have 1 year pass and there'll be 12 episodes like in the first season, so there'll be 4 more years elapse right up to the point where we see Cassian meet his source of info on that trading post station at the start of this movie
This is the show that NOBODY asked for but it delivers consistent thrills, chills and suspense like nothing ever seen in Star Wars before
You'll love it so much, you may want to watch it multiple times

This particular movie was unique because of the way that it delves into the environment of a galaxy that feels the pressure cooker that is war getting hotter and hotter, instead of showing the galaxy being delivered by a space wizard or two
It shows how both sides can use information for their own gain and how it can be received in a certain shape or form, like the word of mouth or a hologram
Like in WWll, the value of information was only as good as its source so, the Rebels didn't believe what the group brought to the table because the word of a career criminal like Jyn and a random assemblage of characters isn't enough to risk the entire campaign of freedom, along with their lives, since the evidence wasn't convincing enough

Jyn isn't Force-sensitive the necklace that holds the kyber crystal was a gift for Jyn because her mother in particular believed in the Force and maybe even the Jedi Order the crystal came from the work Galen was getting done for the Death Star project before he abandoned it

Rogue One is great, and if you ever do decide to do a series, "Andor" is a series on Disney Plus that is the prequel to this movie and its AMAZING.

What a pleasant surprise! I thought you'd be doing all of your poll winners on consecutive posts
Thank you for finally getting to this one! It's a favorite among the fandom, especially in the Disney era so it's a bright spot in a murky sea of contempt for the rest
