I didn't expect this movie to pop up on your channel, but it was a nice surprise! It was pretty intense, although you do notice that it was a very low budget production. I think they made the best out of the limited budget though and it helped a lot that they deliberately kept the scope of the movie small. I like how the down to earth attitude of this movie, without the excessive heroism that you often find in the AAA Hollywood movies.
I really enjoyed your reaction and how you soldiered through it so to speak π
In regards to other recommendations of similar movies, I can really recommend the HBO mini series "Generation Kill" from 2008, despite it being a TV show and not a movie. It's very much like a modern Band of Brothers as it also follows a unit of soldiers (and of an embedded journalist who wrote the book this show is based on) in their journey through an entire war, although here it's the Iraq war of 2003. Just like Band of Brothers the show sticks very close to the real life events and goes even so far that some of the actual soldiers portraited in the show play as actors in the show with one of them even playing himself. Generation Kill is not quite as tense as Band of Brothers though and even offers quite a bit of comedic relief. The best thing about the show is, that it is made by the same crew that made The Wire. It's actually even hinted in the Wire as there is a news article about Generation Kill in a newspaper that Bubbs is reading in one of the last episodes of The Wire. π
