2025-07-04 14:13:43 +0000 UTCThis reaction was da bomb. (I had to.) This is Jan de Bont's directorial debut. (He's Dutch -- Jan is pronounced like 'Yahn'.) He was peviously a cinematographer. Cool that you got a Die Hard vibe early on -- because Jan de Bont was the cinematographer on Die Hard. After great success with *Speed*, his next movie was the original *Twister* (1996).

(in 2006) Speed has a 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes from reviews - it was a big hit in 1994. And it won an Academy Award for Best Sound. This is one of those movies that is always fun to rewatch.
