I just watched the edited version (I don't have access to the full movie), and I was just looking to add a comment about the PG-13 rating, but you beat me to it. 😜I wonder if O & K even realized that the PG-13 rating is relatively new. (I mean, 40 years, but still much newer than most of the other ratings. NC-17 is the only one that's newer, and that's still been around almost 35 years.) Ghostbusters is a fun movie to watch, but I wouldn't classify it as one of my favorite movies. And the CGI definitely did not age well. I'd say that if you enjoyed this one, the others in the series are definitely worth checking out.

2025-05-11 00:38:28 +0000 UTCThis movie was written by Dan Aykroyd (Ray) and Harold Ramis (Egon). The PG-13 designation was introduced in July, 1984... this came out right before that in June, 1984. But also... we were more easy going back then. I mean, Grease (1978) was rated PG and it's very sexual and coarse at times. I think, particularly with '80s movies... we just let them entertain us. We rolled with them and didn't worry about stuff. Lots of 80s movie are more on the fantastical side and quirky... and we just thought it was cool & fun escapism. Definitely less bothered than nowadays. The only bit I would take out of this as being too much... was the ghost bj moment with Ray. You also have to keep in mind... as far as movies gathering huge followings back then... is that there was a lot less media to consume then. A lot less. There were mainly only 3 network channels, hbo was a pretty new thing... and maybe half the number of movies released, compared to now. Some movies would stay out for 6 months to almost a year. So less available and more impact. Definitely hope you continue this journey. The 2 modern Ghostbuster movies with Paul Rudd are really good, too.
