Those kids are just science experiments destined to turn into human weapons in his eyes. The father-like relationship he has with the children seems more like a tool to keep them from turning on him rather than a genuine connection. I think he has fully convinced himself that he is in the right somehow by creating these children with psychic abilities. - K

Despite anything he currently does, he did terrible things to innocent CHILDREN. And as for Two? He may have made some cruel decisions, but that collar-torture scene makes it clear that Papa is to blame for Two's behavior most of all. Papa has pitted these children against each other to compete for his love and attention like a scarce resource. He uses guilt, shame, isolation, and pain to keep them in line and then is surprised when those kids try to use those same tactics against each other? Nah. These kids are just trying to survive in the twisted environment you’ve raised them in, using the tools you’ve given them. That’s on you, Brenner!

2025-03-18 14:30:13 +0000 UTCI really love that some of these episodes are movie length. So much ground to cover without being rushed. We get to really immerse with each situation. The Hawkins happenings are my favorite, followed by Russia, then El. I didn't miss the California road trip at all. I do think that going to find El is pretty key... but Mike & Will, etc..., aren't really in the thick of things like Nancy & Co. are. Even in getting El... that group just seems more of a support system for her. Which is important, too. But the Hawkins crew and the Russia trio are actively deep in the fight, with no powers, just badass bravery. I have no idea what the endgames will be. But personally... I feel like Nancy and Jonathan have been at cross purposes and crossroads since Season 3. If Nancy & Steve ever reunite... I don't think that's regression. They are all finding themselves and evolving. It would just mean that it was too soon for them before, they weren't in the right place yet. Honestly, I'd be more than fine if Nancy wanted to put them both aside, and just concentrate on herself & getting her degree. The guys can wait until after college. If they survive.
