2025-01-16 07:54:55 +0000 UTCIf I recall correctly... George Lucas had previously planned on Luke having a twin sister... each raised separately as a safeguard. And that she would be following a similar path to Luke. Something to develop more if the story continued. But then at this point he didn't think he be doing any more parts to the story... and so decided to streamline and just make it Leia. Rather than try to introduce a new character this late. It worked out well actually, in the end. Their names even sound like twin names. (She only kissed Luke to make Han jealous. It's pretty minor in the scheme of things. And them not knowing it would go this way yet. I do think that modern viewers... I've seen a bunch... seem to get hung up on it more then we ever did.)

2025-01-16 07:10:11 +0000 UTCI'm traveling so I can't sync up... but I'm just gonna listen like an audiobook for now. Entering Jabba's thru the fight over the Sarlacc pit is still thrilling to watch. This movie makes me happy. Leia gets to be more on par with the guys... a sister... the reverse 'I love you / I know'... R2 shooting out the lightsaber... 3PO telling their story to the Ewoks... the speeder chase thru the forest... Vader tossing the Emperor...taking off Anakin's helmet... so many favorite moments. I'm old school.... so I prefer the original ending shot of Ben, Yoda, and old Anakin. And... unpopular opinion I'm sure... also with the original Ewok 'Yub Nub' song. (I was a kid when I first saw it and liked the silly catchiness of it.)
