Idk if it's been talked about by others on here (I very recently joined the Patreon), but I'd love to see your reactions to the Star Wars sequel movies as well, assuming your interest has been piqued. Love 'em, hate 'em, or something in between, one of the appeals of reaction channels, to me at least, is the review at the end.

In regards to Lucas setting up the future movies with A New Hope - Well...no one working on the film thought it would succeed. EVERYONE thought it was going to flop. And flop hard. So there were no plans for a sequel, let alone an entire franchise. In fact, Lucas didn't even go to the premier, he and Steven Spielberg ran away to Hawaii because Lucas was convinced it was going to flop (but that didn't keep him and Spielberg from planting the seed for Indiana Jones). It wasn't until he was sitting on a beach, probably contemplating his direction in life, when Lucas got a call from then president of Fox telling him to turn on the news, because Star Wars wasn't just a hit, it was a phenomenon. Lines where around the block for weeks to see the movie. People were walking out and getting right back in line, and cinema had never seen anything like it before. The closest thing was Jaws which was the highest-grossing movie at the time, and it didn't take long for Star Wars to pass it up. It wasn't until a later re-release of the movie before Empire came out that they added "Episode 4 A New Hope". When it originally released it was just "Star Wars" And the effects were a big part of the movie's success. The production crew invented several new filming and special effect techniques because nothing at the time could do what Lucas wanted. So theater goers had seriously never seen anything like it.
