WATCH ALONG: Kenta Kobashi is a Pro Wrestling God (Documentary)

We’ve definitely gotta watch that Kensuke Sasaki match as well as the Jun Akiyama and the tag match against Holy Demon Army from 1994. Honestly all the ones that Rhys mentioned below we have gots to watch together.

I agree with everything you said here, but I would also add the match against Yoshihiro Takayama here. My favorite match of his reign, an absolute banger between 2 really big, beefy guys.

Whilst it's obviously impossible to watch all recommended matches and film them for reactions there are a few mentioned in this doc that I think really do need to be reaction videos. You'll be able to find all of these on youtube btw, if you have trouble I or someone else will be happy to help you find them if you need :) So these are the ones I'd say you need to react to on video: - Super Generation Army (Misawa, Kawada, & Kobashi) vs Tsuruta-gun (Tsuruta, Taue, & Fuchi) (20.04.1991) the same 2 trios also have 2 more five star matches on (19.10.1990) and (22.05.1992) - The Hansen Match (29.07.1993) - The Steve Williams Match (31.08.1993 & really the rematch on 03.09.1994 too) - with Misawa vs The Holy Demon Army (09.06.1995) The greatest Tag Team Match ever. Their matches in 94 (21.05.1994) and 93 (03.12.1993) are 5 star classics too. - vs Misawa (01.03.2003) (though obviously you get more context if you watch their entire series....which you absolutely should) - vs Jun Akiyama (10.07.2004) - vs Kensuke Sasaki (18.07.2005) And though it wasn't mentioned I would also urge you to react to Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi vs Danny Kroffat & Doug Furnas from 25.05.1992. Maybe the 2nd greatest tag match ever, with probably the greatest crowd ever. - The Nippon Budokan is equivalent to a Madison Square Garden, especially for All Japan (and in turn NOAH). In the 90s with Misawa and Kobashi at the realm they sold out damn near 70 straight shows there (16k audiences every time). - I don't know if you know this already but the Johnny Ace that is brought up a few times here is none other than John Laurinaitis who had a pretty illustrious and long run in All Japan. He was even Giant Baba's wife's favorite wrestler lol. - Steve Williams is most known in the west for the Brawl for All. The Brawl for All was allegedly set up with the thought that he'd run through the rest of the competition and go on to feud with Austin, before that idea was brutally ended by Bart Gunn knocking him out. Williams is a legend in Japan though, one of the greatest Gaijins ever he was a monster as a singles wrestlers as well as a tag team wrestler, and there are many matches I'd recommend for him. - Whilst by all accounts he was an incredibly nice guy backstage, Hansen was a monster in the ring (mostly due to him being legally blind). The most obvious example of this is him vs Vader where he hit Vader so hard his eyeball popped out. Incredible pro wrestler was Hansen, but man he hit haaaaard. - You've mentioned it a bunch of times now but the front row businessmen might be the best part of watching old All Japan. Watching them get more and more into it as the match goes on, and by the time the match ends they're screaming and jumping out of their seats. It's fantastic. - The context of the burning hammer makes the backlash to that AJ/Cody spot make a lot more sense. Kobashi used it 7 times and it was never kicked out of. Cody kicked out of it at 1. Insanely stupid and unnecessary and quite frankly disrespectful spot. - The more you watch of All Japan the more you'll think "damn I want this dope ass jacket he's wearing. Every top guy had the coolest entrance jacket you've ever seen. I think within 10 matches Kobashi is gonna shoot up your favorite wrestlers ever list ngl. I also think these types of informative documentaries are much better suited for these types of reaction vids than the dropmick ones (unless you watch the full matches like you did with the FTR/Briscoes feud)
