I would have LOVED to see Clift in Sunset Blvd. Holden was great, but with Clift we might be talking about the greatest film of all time.

2024-04-20 15:35:40 +0000 UTCMontgomery Clift (Matt) died at age 46 of a heart attack, brought on by multiple health problems (accelerated by suspected drug use). His career was short. He turned down many parts that would become signature roles for other actors- namely Wiliam Holden (Sunset Boulevard), Gary Cooper (High Noon), Alan Ladd (Shane), Marlon Brando (On The Waterfront), James Mason (A Star Is Born), Paul Newman (Cat On a Hot Tin Roof) Dean Martin (Sons of Katie Elder).
