A Time To Kill is based on the first Jake Brigance novel by John Grisham. There are a total of three novels and a novella in the series that covers the late 80's to 90's in Ford County MS, a "prequel" novel that covers Ford County in the '70's, and another "prequel" novel that covers WWII and after the war. So A Time To Kill is just a slice out of a very compelling literary world that I am glad to have read.
