Madison, you can't go wrong with a classic film like Casablanca, with a great story, great acting with some of Hollywood's famous stars of that era. This is one of hundreds of films produced by Hollywood during the war years to stir up Patriotism here on the home front while husbands, wifes , sons and daughters fought and died in the name of freedom across the war torn globe. If you are interested in delving into other classic films of the war years like Casablanca, then I would suggest checking out films like Mrs. Miniver that deals with a small town in Britten that is thrown into the war by the German bombings of England, and the truly classic film The Best Years of our Lives about the lives of three Gi's who come back to their small town after the war as strangers to the changes of the people and places that they left behind. Have a big box of tissues handy for all three of these films...

We've always loved Willow in our house. It's definitely a product of the eighties in the diffused-lighting of the cinematography, the character archetypes and practical effects. I think it's probably easiest to appreciate its charms when you keep that in mind. It's going to be dated, but sometimes that's a good thing. (The score by James Horner is wonderful, by the way.) As far as Young Guns, I think the best reason to see it is to get to Young Guns 2. The shift between the two movies is almost jarring, and it's one of the clearest examples (in my opinion) of a sequel being better than the original. The first movie feels like, "What if the Brat Pack were put into a western?" But the second movie is like, "Okay, so what if we actually tried to make something cinematic?" (I will admit that the piano/electric guitar score from the first movie is pretty awesome.)
