Thought of you while watching it! So funny, action packed, and it’s only 8 episodes!!!

2024-05-21 15:25:19 +0000 UTCThis movie got a lingering effect on me. Bris, I'm so glad you uploaded this. As a flight attendant myself, I got so emotional watching this. Also, a teeny little info from my end as you were referring to whether it's possible for an aircraft to land on water. I'd say it's more dangerous. The aviation term of an aircraft landing on water is called "ditching" and the chances of survival are very slim to zero. Ditching is the last option for an aircraft landing. Land is always better than water when it comes to an emergency landing. Why? Large airplanes have very high approach speeds. This is the speed you have to maintain even in a ditching scenario to keep the aircraft from entering a stall (if lead to a stall, the descend rate can increase to such high rates, that the aircraft smashes into the water). At these high speeds, landing an aircraft that is not designed for water landings can cause it to break apart. It is not easy to assess the water conditions specially at a high altitude. If the swells are high and strong, the aircraft will rip into pieces once it makes contact with the water surface (history proves it). It is way difficult to evacuate passengers after a water landing. This is specially true, if done in open sea. If the aircraft breaks up, some parts of it will go down the ocean quicker than the others, taking the trapped passengers beneath. Another thing is, we being humans are not very accustomed to the sea. There are people who are dead scared of it and there are many who cannot swim. This can make the evacuation even more difficult. Also, the condition of the water it self. If it is cold, the passengers and the crew might suffer from hypothermia. This can cause death. There's one Captain who successfully ditched a plane where all the passengers on board survived. Captain Sullenberger from the "Miracle on the Hudson" incident. It is to be noted that this landing was done in extremely favourable circumstances. There's also a movie based on this incident. I'll just drop the movie name here incase you'd be interested to check it out, it's called, "Sully".
