I know this comment is crazy late but I just subscribed to your patreon and soo happy to see you reacting to all my fave Kdramas! ☺️ Maidservant Kim was the handmaiden for Jang Uk’s mom; because his parents are both gone she runs the household and it’s why she’s comfortable with the other leaders to some extent. She raised Jang Uk and has been his only parent basically his whole life so that def gives her some power. I don’t think she would “traditionally” be a suitable match for the Songrim leader but they’ve got a lot of history and have known each other for decades so everyone is cool with them being casual like that.
