I think we were all skeptical. But I would watch the first 3 episodes and then decide. They answered ALOT of questions and set up the plot for rest of the season. I ended up really liking how they explained the body transformation and I loved where they took the story. It is definitely a different tone but in my opinion they get into a groove around ep 3.

2023-08-18 19:23:32 +0000 UTCdefinitely continue pls bris there is absolutely no tea at all. season 2 actress was in season 1 the whole time with the thought of being season 2 actress and mudeok actress from season 1 was in it from the get go knowing this aswell because its part of the plot. one change for sure is season two is much more meaningful, darker and better chemistry than season 1. I think season one is character development and more comedy based but season two gives us the whole plot on why this all happened and completely gives you the answers to everything.

When I watched s2 I was disappointed too because of what I was used to but I swear it gets so much better once your questions are answered, and they will ! What you’re feeling is just attachment to the first season actress & without spoiling anything i know this might get me some hate lol but Jang Uk with the new girl in season 2 has way stronger and better chemistry you’ll see. I think it has a lot to do with them being close in age too compared to the actress who played Mudeok was older so he had respect for her .

2023-08-16 23:39:59 +0000 UTCAt first I was a bit upset when I found out that the actress of Mudeok's body isn't in season 2 but after I watched the first few episodes I actually began to like this idea more and more. I mean it's not like Naksu is a whole new character in the show since she was there the whole last season - simply just inside Mudeok's body.. but the soul in mudeok was Naksu the entire time. So I liked that they brought the original face of Naksu back, she just doesn't have her memories back of the time she was in mudeok's body. I mean their is still a whole story about the Mudeok-Buyeon-Naksu situation which is a bit complicated but you will eventually get how Naksu's body was able to return even though her body was burned in Season 1 and why she's Buyeon at the same time and so on and on. There is still a lot to unpack in this season and I don't want to spoil too much so I just stop here. You have too keep going to understand everything and if you have any questions we are all here to answer them as good as possible without giving away too much of the story.

Naksu is behaving as she would have if she didn't have the trauma of seeing her family killed and growing in isolation due to Jin Mul. I think they are trying to go for Naksu and Uk's souls/heart drawing them together while the brain makes excuses for why it's the right choice.

2023-08-16 17:30:20 +0000 UTCTo add on, cause soo lee explained it extremely well, in season 1 whenever Naksu was speaking in her mind it was actually the actress go yoon jung's voice and in order to ensure that the chemistry would flow between not only her and lee jae wook but the other cast she was on set for the later parts of season 1 as well. like others mentioned jeon so mi didnt leave season 1 for any type of negative reason. alchemy of souls always was going to be 2 season's and it was decided from the start that it would be 2 actresses for the main lead female. Currently, the character of Naksu has 3 identities she has gone through ( Naksu, Bu yeon, and who Naksu was before she was taken as a child by Jin Mu - the evil man) as the episodes go on it will be explained how she doesn't remember anything, why she has gone back to being the face of ''Naksu'' and that information will help the plot thicken as time goes on. Seo yul is the only one apart from Jin mu who has ever seen Naksu's real body but Seo yul only saw her when they were kids so thats why he doesnt recognize her adult body. As everyone has said, keeping an open mind is key cause I think everyone including me initially had issues with the actress change before watching but it all does make sense by episode so I do hope you continue. 😄

2023-08-16 16:51:00 +0000 UTCI love season two, way more then season one and that was mainly because of Go Youn Jung (season two Naksu). I really hope you continue to watch the series. I know that I am also biased, I only picked up the series after season two was released and only watched it for Go Youn Jung. So I did find it a bit hard to get through season one, and can't really related to people who favour Jung So Min and season one. But I hope you continue to watch season two, and hopefully grow to like it.

2023-08-16 16:07:49 +0000 UTCi can't lie the subs on this are terrible and could cause some things to be out of context which I have no idea why when its on Netflix, but if you understand what's going on that's great :D yes, this actress is Naksu's actual body from season 1 ep 1 and honestly, the chemistry between the two was even better than in season 1 in my opinion so im excited to see you experience that. the question on how she's now back in her old body will be answered in upcoming eps, and the great thing about this season being 10 eps is that each one is fast-paced and it does not slow down 😁

She just doesn't remember yet and Jang UK never met her as she originally looked. She'll start seeming more like Naksu/Mudeoka more and more. I loved the first episode and it gets better. So yes continue watching please, plus it's a shorter season than typical k dramas

The actress is equally charming as mudeok, I’m telling you its still really good, the story, the chemistry of the leads. I love both seasons and its the first time for me to love a second season of a show in kdrama. I was like that too when I found out that the mudeok’s actress was not coming back on this season so it took me a while to watch it but my brother kept telling me that the 2nd season is really good so I gave it a shot and never regretted watching it. Mind you my brother rarely watches kdrama or romantic comedy genre shows and told me its one of his favourite shows. Try watching it a few more episodes, I’m sure you’ll like it.

But Buyeon never vanished making Naksu and Buyeon share “mudeok” body which is now controlled by Naksu. Now I’m season 2 they used Naksu body but Buyeon is in control of it but again she has both naksu and Buyeon souls inside her. You find out why it Is this way in ep2. Please give it a chance it’s a really good season. It won’t top season 1 of irse but it’s still really good

2023-08-16 05:34:07 +0000 UTCa lot to unpack here: There’s no tea in the replacement of the female leads…. no external factors It’s just how the script went plot wise. In fact Go younjung (the new actress) participated in all of season 1 voicing all of naksu’s inner thoughts. It was her voice all along narrating naksu. She is the OG Naksu and has been since the beginning. Season 2 has a different vibe from season 1. It’s darker,heavier, and in my opinion much sadder. The chemistry of the leads change a lot too of course, not only because we have a whole different actor in the dynamic but also because Jang uk himself is very different from S1 due to everything that happened with mudeok and his new power attained from the ice stone. Jang uk and mudeok had a really funny tik-taka comedic chemistry. There was a lot more of comedy in their relationship than actual romance. In season 2 they purposely explore more of the romance between them and they have a lot more of romantic chemistry. Next ep explains everything about naksu/ buyeon thing that you’re confused about. It’s still the same storyline of course. jang uk never saw the OG Naksu face, he only knew her as mudeok so that’s why he doesn’t “recognize” her . In fact… very few people in the show know naksu’s real face. The reason why she doesn’t recognize him is going to be explained too. In season 1 jang uk needs naksu to be his master and open his gate of energy so that he can become a mage like he always wanted. And naksu needed him to regain her powers. In season 2 jang uk needs buyeon’s divine powers to extract the ice stone from him so that he can finally die and be at peace, and buyeon needs him to avoid getting married and locked in a room for the rest of her life. Season 2 shows the once fearless and lively MC in a very different light, with a power that haunts him 24/7 while he’s grieving the loss of his love. The MC wants to die. The settings are very different but very clear. The seasons have different purposes but the storyline is still the same… so they complete each other. If you do continue watching I hope you can do that with an open mind, bc you became resistant to the story as a whole when you learned about the new actress, which is understandable tbh but I hope you still get to enjoy the story for what it is

2023-08-16 05:08:32 +0000 UTCI was like you as well and didn’t want to continue watching but hear me out, you should watch it. Jang Uk is the same person, he remembers Mudeok and what happened. The new actress is the original face of NAKSU. The person inside Mudeok’s body (the soul) was the new actress. She shifted souls with Mudeok in season 1 and in part 2 NAKSU soul came back to her own body. She however has no memory and as you keep watching it’ll answer more questions as to why and how it all happened and how she’s alive. The new actress is the original Naksu who everyone was scared of and fought the Master of Songrim in episode 1, season 1. Jang Uk (and other people) never saw NAKSU real face, he had just heard of her and saw her in the form of Mudeok’s face. Technically all of the memories they have together are not Mudeok’s, they are NAKSU’s because it was NAKSU’s soul. Plus Jang Uk never found out Mudeok was in BUYEON’s body. Even Yul doesn’t recognize her because he only knew NAKSU when they were younger.Hope this helps and I hope you continue to watch it!

2023-08-16 04:38:41 +0000 UTCI too was pretty disappointed to see that Mudeok was not in the second season but I still decided to watch it since the ending of the first season left me unsatisfied so I wanted to see it got resolved in the second season. I think that you should continue the second season because the action is pretty good and the chemistry between the two leads was good as well. Although I still do prefer the first season, I think the second season was still really enjoyable and left me satisfied in the end. Also about the whole confusion with mudeok/naksu/buyeon, she has the body of naksu with the soul of mudeok expect she lost her memories as mudeok. So she is basically both naksu and mudeok in one. You'll see though how she got to be like that in later episodes :)
