Cultic rules. I have no other way to say it. Game is simply great. Top-tier boomshoot. I say it here, I say it in the video, and I will continue to say it. 3D Realms published a good FPS again!
I may be a little quiet over the next few weeks as I have a short vacation coming up. Until then, I'll be working on a couple different videos including a Christmas Special, which, hopefully, won't eat up all of that time.

P.S. I keep seeing AI generated videos of Billy Mays and laughing. They don't look like him because the AI is only trained on shitty standard definition footage from 20 years ago and tries to imagine what his face looks like in HD. It would be so cool if Generative AI didn't suck.

I actually have to disagree, Chapter 2 feels insufferably difficult at times (hello Old Town map) and easy to get lost in, I know the automap will fix a lot of that but I think the ammo issue is one that Jason is overlooking. I think Chapter 2 isn't as good as 1 or Interlude. That's just me. Enjoy your time off.

2025-11-10 10:35:00 +0000 UTCI think I prefer chapter 1. Chapter 2 is really good but I thought that some of the levels, especially the last level "Bunker" were a little too big and complicated. Also, I feel really stupid now because I didn't know there is a dash. Played the whole thing on the second highest difficulty and never realized you could dash. At least I know now for when I do an extreme playthrough.

Same goes for your video on it as well! :) Yeah, Cultic overall is one of the best modern boom shoots out there. I didn't mind the longer levels of Chapter 2 - it felt like a proper expansion to the base game. I know it is the end of the story, but I wouldn't really mind a "chapter of a chapter" kind of thing for the Rookie Cop!

I don't have quite the time for games as I used to but ended up playing a level a day (or so, some levels like the Medieval Theme Park are enourmous) so I would be finished in time for this video. Interested to hear what you think. I'm conflicted as some of the new stuff I found frustrating, such as the sheer size of some levels makingme become lost whilst trying to find switches and some of the spongyness of enemies on higher difficulties, also allowed for fantastic exploration whilst ambusing enemies or being ambushed yourself and the added dash mechanic greatly helped dealing with said spongier enemies. Overall, even if I didn't like everything, I'm far happier that he tried some new stuff for Chapter 2 rather than just making Chapter 1 again. The ambition of Chapter 2, as well as said ambition paying off more than it did not, combined with the near perfect linear Chapter 1 has cemented Cultic for me as one of the best FPS's of all time. Hope you liked it as much as I did Civvie! Will find out now I guess.

Every time I got close, that fucking harvester would hook-shot me out of the fucking air and kill me. Also quick tip for speedrunners, the cultist stronghold next to the house, on the farm level, can be accessed with two stacked barrels. That should cut a chunk of your playtime out.
