PRO DOOM: THE MASTER LEVELS

Truthfully, I hadn't played The Master Levels. I booted up Attack.wad one time and said "this looks boring" and then gave it up to work on something else. I should have stuck with it because there's interesting levels in there. I wish there were 21 of them, but we can't have everything.
It is fun to see what id was contracting out and who would end up where after the dust settled. A lot of the map authors went pretty far in the industry. Some even claimed to invent multiplayer-only maps!
It does help me get something out while I'm trying to get through Viscerafest (2 of 3 episodes captured after significant difficulties) because it's been like six months since the last indie boomshoot video and I'm hesitant to do roundups anymore because fewer people watch them and the tide from the Boom Shoot Toob™ doesn't seem to be stopping. Viscerafest? Project Warlock II? Don't Stop Girlypop?!
So yeah hopefully the next vids will be Viscerafest and then Doom: The Dark Ages. Bethesda will likely not send a review code because this is not a respectable gaming channel and if you don't believe me, check out the Patreon exclusive from earlier this week.

But I especially like your DOOM videos because they inspired me to actually play DOOM again after entering adulthood. I even played through DOOM 64 after the Steam release came out. 2025-04-18 15:03:38 +0000 UTCI've been slowly working my way through Maximum DOOM off and on since 2022, and outside of a few decent creators whose maps got thrown in, some of the best maps are retextured and reworked versions of commercial DOOM maps. Not to mention, a good majority of those maps were originally DOOM 1 maps that were run through a program called "DOOM2Conv.exe" that used some batch programming level of RNG to randomize items as monsters, ammo, weapons, and other pickups to use DOOM 2's assets. They also had to convert the removed DOOM 1 textures to DOOM 2 textures, which broke a bunch of offset wall texture secrets. It truly is an exercise in shock, surprise, defeat, and disappointment. Certainly, a professional such as yourself has a timetable for MaxDOOM, right? /s
