Jazz Jackrabbit is a game. It is a technical wonder of a game. It is also a strange artifact of the past. In fact, all Jazz Jackrabbit games, except the GBA one that I don't talk about in the video, feel as if they're from an era that never existed - the era of "PC Mascot Platformers" which didn't really take off. I mean, the biggest names in PC platformers were what? Keen? Duke? Electroman?!
This vid took a little longer than I wanted because of some of the more tricky edits. Anytime there's a Cancer Mouse scene, things get complicated. Somewhat glad to be back to weird old DOS games. Next up is Dark Forces 3: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast 1. I'm not including Jedi Academy because we need to focus on Katarn's (and possibly Raven's) Finest Hour.
And Jaden Korr is a dork.

2025-02-18 00:40:35 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid, I preferred Jazz 2 to Jazz 1 but it may been simply due to the fact that we mostly started out with a Win 95 PC back in the day. But man, the music of Jazz 2...especially the laboratory levels, it's just fantastic. I do miss Alexander Brandon's music in today's games, that's for sure.

Still the peak of DOS platforming. Sure, the gameplay gets a bit repetitive, but its still my favourite DOS game of all time

So naturally when I stayed with her she goes “shut up nerd, we learnin DOS today.” Which sent me down the rabbit hole of learning old DOS games, even weird obscure trapped-in-a-room-trivia-them-ups. And I can say definitively; I’ve never heard of this in my life.
