As a Disney's Alien and Predator nerd, this is one I played a lot of back in the day. That won't stop me from including footage of myself eating shit because that's way more entertaining.
AvP '99 might not seem as good as I remember it because it isn't. The game has problems. It is absolute jank. Nostalgia glasses prevent me from tearing some of the more questionable design decisions a new asshole.
Production on this one took a little longer than I'd wanted. Spent a lot of time whittling the thing down and doing some re-takes in order to make it a tighter, more concise video. "Bullshit!" I hear you saying, because the video is still over 40 minutes, one of which is spent showing the intricacies of the DoSC's pneumatic delivery system. I blame the photosensitivity warning for eating up so much time. I was close to cutting the Phantom Fury bit but I think it could be a fun running gag because they'll never finish that game.

Managed to get it to work by asking on your reddit /r. Downloaded a custom launcher and disabled the Joystick in the launcher and it fixed the mouse issue. Also ran it in windowed mode which seems to make the mouse movement smoother. Only took 6 months of fiddling around to work it out.

2024-05-07 01:08:49 +0000 UTCThis game had so many weird and cool little features, like volumetric explosions (I don't know of any games that have done that since, it's kinda hard to showcase but I know there's a corridor near the end of the hadleys hope map where you can shoot grenades into a little side vent and the explosion will blast out all cinematic and stuff.) and the gibbing of the enemies was pretty unique at the time too. AVP1 was alright... but AVP2? Oh man!

Am also a big fan of the Alien franchise. Predator 1 is of course a classic, 2 a fun watch from time to time, but the Alien(s) made more of an impact back in the day. I’ve rewatched the entire series twice this year for some reason. By the way, it seems some government, corpo or military entities from that universe have appropriated certain alarm sounds from the Department of Special Corrections. Maybe file a copyright claim? 😁 P.S. if you want to correct it before the public release, there’s a small typo in the beginning in ’photosensitivity’.

While I haven't gotten it to play nice with Win10 yet, I did read about using Windows compatibility settings to alleviate mouse problems. You can go into the compatibility settings and click on "Change high DPI settings" and then override the DPI scaling behavior. (I think, not 100%) Hooray for Lithtech jank!

Liked AVP1, especially the survivor game mode, but AVP2 was one of my favourite games back in the day. Hope you get around to making a video on that one at some point, because I can't for the life of me get it to work on modern windows. Tried everything and even have my original copy but I can't for the life of me work out how to fix the mouse camera control bug that makes it unplayable, so if I can't play it again, watching you do a video on it would be the next best thing.
