BLOODHOUNDS ep.3 | PARTY REACTION!!!

Yeah I think you are pretty much right. The whole "that's hip hop" is definitely just a thing in Korean hip hop culture. Idk who started that cringey trend but the Korean rappers over there seemed to have made that a thing and then I'd hear it on the K dramas or K variety shows. This show might actually be pointing out and mocking how corny it is now by having Woo Jin say it then everyone around him is like what the hell are you talking about lol I think they are becoming more self aware that the phrase does not work in actual hip hop culture

Others please correct me if I'm wrong, coz this was what I felt/thought every time they said 'this is hip hop' in Korean variety shows

This doesn't happen anymore, but last time in Korean variety shows, they used to say "this is hip hop", "that is hip hop". The vibe I got from that was like if you wear/do something that is cool, they say "This is hip hop". I think hip hop was all about being cool and confident in Korean variety shows, so if you got those two things, they would say "That is hip hop". They would say that in many situations, be it about clothes, jewellery, even if it was cringey. Also, when a rapper says or do something cool, other people would be awed and say 'that is hip hop' and follow what they rapper just did, then the rapper would just laugh. If they say 'this is hip hop', it means they would be thinking they are cool and confident. This happened a lot last time in Korean variety shows, but I don't hear that anymore. I was not too familiar with hip hop so I didn't really think much about it when they say that all the time. If I remember correctly in variety shows, quite a number of Korean rappers say that as a habit. Maybe that's how it started? When a rapper did something and other people asked why did you do that, the rapper would just say "This is hip hop" and the rest would just be like "Ohhhh", like it didn't need any further explanation

The actors actually mentioned in an interview that in episode 1 boxing scene, they really punched each other for that scene, so maybe that's why the punches for that scene was less impactful because they used the real sound?
