64 BITS OF STEEL

And when we least expected it, The King returned.
Fuck me sideways this video was fun to make. This game goes so fucking hard.
I feel that I'm never really done with Duke. That there's always another adventure for him. He doesn't age! They'll never have to de-age him with CGI! I think they might want to de-emphasize his muscles a little bit. By the 2010's they were starting to look a little weird with the continued progress of graphical fidelity. But are they 64-bits? Most likely, nowadays. In 1999, 64-bits was sorcery, which I assumed about Duke Nukem: Zero Hour being on the Build engine too. Makes no sense to me and I hope the ever-resourceful Duke community ports this over. Imagine opening EDuke and seeing this as a launch option.
glhf,
-Civvie
P.S. Don't buy Graven, like seriously don't do it. There are better ways to spend $25. Have you considered crack cocaine?
P.P.S. For legal reasons, I must clarify that I am not encouraging you to become addicted to crack outside of a Postal game.

I can understand the feedback and the sewer count criticism, but in regards to #1, puns are auto-detected due to an implant that was installed in the Wolf ‘09 video

Hey Civvie o/ this is another great Duke video. I have a few complainments, or should i say nitpicks about it tho.
1. AX3 wasn't there saying "Actionable Pun detected" before you got shocked.
2. New Sewer counter is not fun. It sounds and looks sterilized and clean. The previous one, with zombie sounds was funnier, because it was giving the impression of how annoying sewers are to you. So, when you changed it, it's not fun to see you getting tortured by sewers.

Sorry Duke lovers, I'm the sorry bastard that had to click like to take the count from 69 to 70.

I spent a couple of hours playing it this morning and had a great time with it. It's not perfect, not is it entirely polished, but I'm not that bothered by a few rough edges. Wrath seems to be making slower progress but I'm excited for it, even if it is a bit punishing at times.

The game was shoved out the door way too soon, I fear for Wrath. There are a lot of bugs right now, not least of all a possible save corruption (back up your saves if you play it!). The core problems Civvie mentions are unlikely to be fixed, but despite that I really do enjoy the exploration, the lack of a map didn't bother me at all. I stopped using the sword entirely, the first gem you get for the staff uses mana to yeet enemies into the afterlife.
The spells do get better later, like absurdly better. The fire spell ignites enemies (zombies are resistant to it, but they're fodder anyway), and when they die they explode, lighting other enemies on fire as they do. And they run away from you when they burn.

Actually, I think the absolute maximum amount of ass the N64 could render was Adon from Turok 2/3.

OMG, this is one of my favorites from the N64! My dog has a pretty nasty cancer diagnosis recently, so this is very well timed! We used to play split screen deathmatch and we called victorian Duke "Mr Ingles" like from "Little House on the Prairie" and had good laughs and great times with this game.

Not sure if the weird 3D platforming and unusual controls would turn civvie off or the absolutely awesome atmosphere and really clever level design make it his bag. You need to meet Shadowman on its own terms, but it's really rewarding if you do.

I’ve playtested Graven for quite a while, and every time they introduced a new weird design choice people would complain and they would not care to engage. I stopped testing when the save system/respawning enemies got introduced. I physically cannot be bothered to play it since then. Very sad because it had a ton of potential really.

I still remember my Pentium 75. Loading up DOS. Launching Duke Nukem 3D. The computer needed to be repaired. A family friend lent me his i486 until it was fixed so I could continue to play. Never played the N64 version but, every time I see a Duke video it reminds me of the good old days.

We only had consoles when I was a kid so this and Time to Kill were my first Duke Nukem games. I didn't even know what Duke 3D was until later on when I had a PC and I randomly found loose discs of it, Nuclear Winter, and even a copy of Blood at a thrift store for like a dollar. The Blood disc turned out to be too far gone but surprisingly Duke worked just fine for a long time.

I guess your mileage may vary, and I think those issues are greater or lesser depending on play styles too. I do wish there was a map and a fast travel option as there can be a lot of backtracking. It perhaps wasn't totally ready for 1.0 by a lot of people's standards, but I'm not so frustrated by it myself. I think the atmosphere is great and I love the visual design. I do love using the staff with the white crystal to knock enemies flying into walls or each other, or switching to the explosive bolts on the fletchette to disperse a crowd of lower tier monsters, or gib a tougher one.

Voodoo John Constantine travels across Hell and various other terrible places trying to stop 5 serial killers from making the plot of Army of Darkness happen. Really cool armosphere, good shooting and actually decent platforming for a 3rd person shooter. Worth checking out

This game holds a special place in my heart. Before this one, I only got to play Duke at a friend's house on their PC, as my parents didn't think computers were for games. Then once it launched on the N64, I got it and played it non stop.

Every time I try to play it I run into 100 little problems that compound on one another and ruin the experience for me. Baffling design decisions, like having the shooty weapons in your medieval combat game be way better than any of your melee weapons or spells. Keeping encounters that were designed for when the spells worked better in earlier versions. An awful save system. An even more awful stamina system in a game that requires you to run around a lot. Melee combat that encourages you to use parries that are barely useful when enemies still knock off a quarter of your health. Melee combat that encourages you to parry when enemy attacks aren't timed properly to their animations. Awful AI that breaks at least once every encounter. Enemy spawn triggers that would make sense in a linear game and make backtracking a slog when the game requires constant backtracking without a map. The lack of a map.
That being said, I haven't finished the game yet, so maybe it gets better?

Graven has been sponsoring some other shows I watch, like Matt McMuscles. I don't know anything about it myself but I've trained myself to disregard basically every company that does sponsorships. If they have the money they're always terrible somehow (See: world of warships, honkai star rail, raid shadow legends)
