STRIFE - THE BIG SCORE

FINALLY, ANOTHER DOOM ENGINE GAME! The one I have the least experience with because believe it or not, I even played Hexen more than Strife. Strife was one of those games I heard about before playing and probably avoided until the early-to-mid 2000's when I was curious about it and probably played it in the worst way possible, my young brain not being able to comprehend the nuances of not shooting things in the face immediately. Who would design a game where you didn't shoot things in the face as soon as you saw them? Sierra? Infocom? Did Douglas Adams have a hand in this? He was always a smartass who would do something like that.

Before anyone mentions it, I am aware of the typo in the intro section - "plenned" instead of "planned" - and I left it in as a Patreon Exclusive Bonus™ because I didn't feel like re-exporting the video again today. This also gives patrons the exclusive privilege of breaking my balls about it.

I did another export this morning already because I realized last night that I called Forbes Corporate Warrior "DOS Trash." I wrote that in the script and then spent 2 hours setting up a Windows 95 virtual machine in order to run it so I could get footage for this video and couldn't allow such an unplanned error to make it into the cut. Shameful, really.

Nightdive's port (Veteran Edition) confused me a bit since I've played through it once before and I recall using ZDoom for older playthroughs, possibly DOS at one point because a port didn't even exist when I first played this game. I hardly remember. I understand people's fondness for Strife even if I was never the biggest fan of it. It's a fascinating game that probably deserved better recognition. And some of the most fascinating parts of it got cut in the remaster! I want punishment, damn it!
