Random question: Unaware
Added 2018-06-04 21:51:15 +0000 UTCOne of you folks asked what I like so much about "unaware", which usually involves the person transforming not realizing he's been changed because he's "always been this way". It features as an explicit option in the "Four Jocks" stories and tends to show up a lot in my other writing too. My response:
You know, I've been asked that before, and I'm not sure what it is. Part of it is that if a guy is changing, there's one thing happening, but if a guy is changing and doesn't know it, there's two things happening. Another part of is is that I find guys who don't realize how sexy they are to be a lot hotter than guys who do.
And another big part of is that sometimes I want to write about the drama of the change (the "OMG what do I do now that I have four arms" factor), but sometimes I don't, and unaware leaves out that drama while still giving you the hot TF. (My favorite example is actually NBCK99's "Four Jocks" installment, though I love that there are some "aware" moments mixed in for spice.)
That said, what I ended up doing in "Truth to Tell" is subverting it by having a guy with "unaware" powers but one of his subjects figures it out anyway, which was actually a lot of fun to explore. And we ended up at a place where Keith can play around with Stefan either way...
What do you think? How do you like your changes? If you were playing "Four Jocks", would you set to to aware, or unaware?

I find it to be helpful if there's multiple characters who are aware of what's happened, because I'm a big fan of games that involve parallel worlds and helping set things back to "right" or "correct" (in the games).
