Two ideas for additional "American" dishes: Rhubarb pie and Toll House cookies (biscuits). Good luck! [BTW be more generous with the spices. If the pie crust is bland then the filling should be sweetly spiced.]

Millie is right, "everybody does apple pie different(ly)". This is an "American" apple pie (sweet filling and non-sweet crust) but perhaps not a typical version.
Ms. Vicky, 1) cinnamon yes. Provided your family likes cinnamon. 2) stewed apples are okay but unnecessary. Keep the apple pieces medium-large, you want the apples in the finished pie to have some texture. Your making apple pie, not apples-sauce pie. 3) I typically include some vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in my pies because my family likes those flavors. 4) Likewise, if your family likes apple pie the way you make it then it's "perfect"!
If I could share that pie, I would not turn it down nor would I have any complaints about it. You seem very knowledgeable about cooking so experiment and make it more "your" version.
Finally, to James. Good on you for, at least, sampling foods about which you're not sure. Your "I'll give it a go" attitude will pay off with Archie in the future.
