Clam chowder is one of my favorite soups. In the Air Force I was stationed 90 miles from New Orleans, and I love all the food from New Orleans definitely the gumball one of my favorite.PS whenever presented with oyster crackers while in the United States, always put it in the soup and mix it around including chili they usually give it when you order chili. Oyster crackers are the same thing as saltine crackers (regular crackers). Regular crackers you could dip into the soup or chili. But always the crackers are way too small to dip into the soup or chili. Although a lot of people who are presented with saltine crackers will crush them up and put them into the super chili also.

2024-07-18 16:29:23 +0000 UTCIf you make clam chowder at home, make sure you use plenty of clam juice (in addition to the juice in the can of clams). Otherwise, it tastes like potato soup.

2024-07-15 22:06:08 +0000 UTCI just dump the crackers on top and mix them in. They are too tiny to be worth the effort to dip. If you prefer to dip, get some Saltines. By the way, oyster crackers get their name from their shape, not because of any oyster flavor. They are just basic crackers (and so are the larger Saltines). I do the same with all sorts of cream soups, by the way--even cream of tomato.

There is also a Manhattan clam chowder, which is more of a vegetable soup with clams, and Rhode Island clam chowder, which is a tomato broth base with blended tomatoes and potatoes as a thickener. I grew up in New England and love this style of clam chowder. You can also find fish chowder and corn chowder that are New England style chowders but swap out the clams for fish or corn.
