Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul released!
Added 2021-02-28 21:22:11 +0000 UTCOdin!
Odin is what magic should have been. It combines a vanilla magic overhaul with a V++ spell expansion.
It is seamlessly integrated into a V++ game, but also works well in a full size setting, filling the "vanilla spell overhaul" gap in full size Enairim.
In short, no reason not to get it.
Some highlights:
- Scrolls and staves are now actually useful, and apply perk effects that were formerly spell only.
- Minions scale with character level, gaining damage, health and spell magnitude.
- Spells with a level cap now have an escalating failure chance above the level cap instead of a hard cutoff.
- About 520,000 bugfixes.
- Alteration: More utility and buffs, feels more like older TES games where you could do all sorts of awesome things.
- Conjuration: Massively improved reanimate duration to make necromancers viable, persistent zombies and thralls, more daedra, more spirits, concentration buffs for pure summoners.
- Destruction: More elemental spells with varying ranges and power, more concentration spells, weapon buffs, bugfixes.
- Illusion: Image and command spells to make pure illusionists viable, powerful countermagic, sneak buffs, mind affecting spells scale better.
- Restoration: Poison added, sun spells are mainline, the massive bloat of turn undead spells is reduced, shield spells, wards are much more effective and scale properly.
Where?
Compatible with Apocalypse?
Yes. When Odin detects that Apocalypse is installed, overlapping spells will be skipped.
Compatible with Mysticism?
Technically yes (there'll be a conflict on the vanilla spell changes, pick one and load it after the other). There will be lots of functional overlap though, which is not really possible to reconcile. Not recommended.
Compatible with Ordinator?
Yes. Get the compatibility patch on the Ordinator page.
Compatible with Vokrii?
First class citizen. Get the compatibility patch on the Vokrii page.
LE?
Yes, eventually. Mods that don't get quickly ported to LE are mods where an LE port is so time consuming that I want to get the bugs out and arrive at a stable version before committing to the port. This mod has two compatibility patches right out of the gate, so an unlucky bugfix would have to be repeated up to 6 times if I port it too quickly.
