Comic VS Visual Novel

I like visual novels but it would need to have consistent monthly updates as well as some interesting mechanics. If it's just one of those where the story is fully linear then might as well do a comic. However my problem with comics is that they often just devolve into porn or buff guys with dicks out style and lack any sort of story (i.e. much of the class comics stuff). I'd rather have webcomic style format where you tell actual stories which also happen to have hot sex.
