Funny story about this scene: back on Tumblr, people used to get upset that Xerxes and friends wouldn't stop and use lube visibly in every scene. While I understand where they're coming from, I decided to explain the narrative reason they don't usually visibly have condoms, and that they indeed do use lube, it's just not always drawn. Consent is one thing, safe sex has to be a given, but also their world is different than ours.

Much like using the bathroom or brushing their teeth. you just have to imagine that they do certain things outside the narrative. It's the 'where are the toilets in Final Fantasy' gameplay and story separation trope. Unless it's important or interesting to show, there's not a whole lot of reason to show it - especially in a comic where space is precious, takes time to be drawn, and it's not an open, interact-able world.
