When I first started talking about my webcomics to other people online, I was struck by the things people would notice - and the things people were put off by. One of these was repeated comments about my characters' noses. It was a weird thing, to zoom in on that one feature, but they usually came from people who were fans of ya*i - bishie-type anime avatars and such. 'They aren't cute', 'noses too big' 'why are they mutilated' etc etc. Strange comments.
Anyway, no matter what your nose looks like or if you don't have one, here is a message for you - there's nothing wrong with what you or what you look like. So if this scene seems random, well, I've been discriminated against for weird stuff that I can't change about my physiology (including the neurodiverse stuff lol), and it's pretty uncool. But Knight of Alanoc is all kinds of commentary about my experiences so if there's some positive takeaways from it and if it makes you feel good, I'm just happy to make stuff like this for people like us.
It helped me a lot to write Knight of Alanoc with my experiences in mind, and I hope it heals others a little too.
