Ramzi's transition is something I've wanted to depict for years, but not in a way that would be voyeuristic or with shock value. Ramzi is a private person other than this, so he's not lying to Osric at the end for any kind of shock or drama later - he just doesn't care to explain that Osric is in fact wrong about his assessment. Xerxes is a supportive friend through all of this, and if you look in previous Ace of Beasts pages with his and Ramzi's past, you can see that he loved him before his transition as well.
In the world of Men Plus Monsters, there are many people who have transitioned, all using different methods - some similar to the real world (Cirocco, etc), some by magical means (Ramzi, Celestin, etc). Gender identity and expression may be similar or different than the real world in Men Plus Monsters' world because of cultural and technological differences as well as the presence of tangible magic in the MM world.
Things are never the same or in the same context as our world (still, I have had people look over the scripts and pages for a sensitivity read), but I hope that the experiences that are written in these comics speak to people in the way that they speak to me as an LGBTQIA+ creator.
