I've been getting a lot of deleted pledges saying that they don't like what I'm putting on Patreon. I wanted to know what specifically was the matter? And if you had any solutions?
What I could do:
- I can reduce my output of WIPs or eliminate them completely in favor of weekly 'finished page' updates.
- I can opt to not show story-heavy scenes and just post NSFW
- I can not show any of the 'heavier' emotional scenes in ACE OF BEASTS and keep those scenes in print. Choosing this would mean that my output on Patreon will be more inconsistent, but with 'lighter' content to read.
- Have any more ideas? Let me know in the comments below!
What I won't do:
- Change the story of ACE OF BEASTS
(why: It is both erotica and a character-driven tale about transformation and trauma, and it was going to tell the story of the Sect in every script I made for the entire story sooner or later. That it is telling the Sect's section now was the crux of the rewrite I did a few years ago, and it's the story I wanted to tell, just sooner (it was initially Volume 3). For lighter stories I make, I'd direct you to SWORD KINGS and MEN+MONSTERS, the former of which I update on here. M+M is being written at this time, and I may or may not continue it (this is not a new revelation - after the end of Chapter 6, I had stated I was taking an extended break from it, and possibly not continuing it).
- Make all of my stories straight up erotica / bl / what have you with no story / a 'plot' that just strings together scenes of porn
(why: while the one-shots are mostly erotica, I make them with stylized art + character relevance. The $10 tier is for more 'smutty' stuff like the Victorious Secret pin-ups, but I will not be 'just' showing my characters as nothing but pieces of meat.)
I've been much happier with the outcomes of the stories and my production time lately... but it really is disheartening to have one of my main sources of income being slowly taken from me in a critical time like this, when I essentially have no specific idea why people are disliking my (increased) output. And that is the only reason people chose.
I know this is a lot to read, but I truly do not know what is happening here.
Let me know if anything I've outlined above sounds like an appealing alternative! I want you to be happy as much as I am with my work.
Thanks so much for reading,
Aero
