Legends speak of two groups of warriors who changed the fate of their world in the current Age of Monsters.

They were remembered in their deeds and in name. As the legends go...

One swordsman was beset by dark magic from a sorcerer, rendering both he and the love of his life cursed and monstrous. 

The sorcerer had brought back monsters from the feral age through forbidden magicks - necromancy - and used them as his personal army against all who he deemed evil.

The swordsman swore revenge on behalf of his love, and they traveled the world to find the necromancer.

The cursed swordsman was not prepared to face the sorcerer at the end of his journey, but he did so alone.

When the curse was lifted, they were still djinni, yet still human, and the swordsman and his love found beauty in facing their imperfections together.

Tales also speak of a man who was exiled for taking care of a monster, an illegal presence in the human kingdom. He was sentenced to live out his days hunting monster people and he could not return home.

He rescued another monster person and together they journeyed to right the wrongs of the world through a town welcoming all people.

Cruelty threatened them often, but they were triumphant in the face of it, and eventually no one could deny that what they had experienced was unjust.

Monster people gained the right to live from their efforts, the right to do as anyone else could, and the exiled swordsman paid quiet tribute to his first monster lover to honor their momentous victory, putting a white flower on his grave.

These adventurers were tasked with a choice at the end of their journeys: do they ascend as living legends, or do they resume the life they once had?

They chose neither.

The djinni men returned home, taking a break from mercenary work to live a quiet life in new domestic bliss.

The exiled swordsman and his monster, content with the increasing rights for monster people, moved back to the swordsman's lush homeland of Sylvos.

Or so the tales go.
