Lemon D Drums and Breaks

Yo hope everyone is pumped for the weekend! I've got some heavy handed drums & breaks processing for you in this one. 🥷

Dillinja and Lemon D are two legends of the DnB & Jungle scene and have some absolute slammers between them which still tear up raves today. This legendary duo have remained largely untouched on the internet with barely a single remarke or recreation attempted.

This is partly due to a lot of the mysticism surrounding their techniques. Apart from word of mouth on forums like DOA https://www.dogsonacid.com/threads/how-do-i-get-this-fat-amen-break.782308/ there is only this 5 min clip from the metalheadz documentary where we see some techniques in action - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrisGeqn70s&t=133s

Their sound is incredibly unique, towing that perfect line between heavily distorted, in your face drums & bass whilst still retaining the fatness & energy that often gets lost with this type of processing.

I think this may be the first step towards a future video for my YouTube channel & I hope everyone finds it useful! Please ask away if you have any questions. ✌️

Good call on looking at the wave form as well. There's a lot to be said about looking at the waveforms of drums you like. Sometimes you can trust your eyes!

Yea exactly! I guess we're shifting the phase so both things are kinda happening. Moving the second layer is causing the comb filtering of the two identical signals. The EQ and automation actually make a massive difference to get a cleaner and less jarring sound. :)

Great video. That technique of playing two versions of the same break with one slightly delayed creates a comb filtering effect.
