Monster MENagerie - Orc-taur WIP
Added 2018-01-02 07:21:45 +0000 UTCThe orc, as most people know it, tends to be the World of Warcraft kind, the green-skinned 'for the Horde!' kind of orc. But there is a long history of this kind of monster person, long before online games. And long before we only considered orcs green.
Before that, orcs existed in Tolkien's works, but rather than the green-skinned ones people usually model their characters after, these were more of the 'mountain spirit' kind of creature. Tolkien was insistent his orcs had no correlation beyond coincidence to orka, the aquatic genus, and said his inspiration was from the creatures of ancient folklore mixed with classical forest troll aesthetics.
The 'orcs' present in the world of MEN PLUS MONSTERS are halfway between classical folkloric orc-like creatures and the legendary minotaur, to create a monster of sizable strength and a great emphasis on martial prowess. Loyalty and love of nature is strong in this creature, and so potential partners should be prepared to rendezvous in the wilderness often ;3
