The X5650 is actually Westmere-EP, not Bloomfield, which is a die shrink of Nehalem. That provides slightly better IPC. Nehalem is ~15% behind Sandy Bridge. Ryzen is between Ivy Bridge and Haswell when it comes to computing on average, and between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge when it comes to gaming, on average. Ryzen's problems in gaming is because the memory controller is optimized for throughput, which hurts any latency sensitive workload, including gaming.
