Thermomix TM6 v Tokit Omni Cook

The Tokit is $1000 cheaper but is it as good as a thermomix? Watch the tests and let me know what you think.

Thanks for all your kind messages - I am feeling much better now. I was still struggling with my voice a little in this video but hopefully it is not too obvious.

I have sent the thermomix in to their service centre for testing to see if it is faulty or normal. It does seem strange posting a brand new machine in to be serviced. They have sent confirmation that they have received it. Their documentation says the service centre will take up to 10 days. I will update you on any progress.

UPDATE:

Service centre receipt says they have replaced the "TM6 Power PCB 230V". So it sounds like the brand new machine was faulty. I will run the test again when it arrives back here.

LATEST UPDATE:

When the machine arrived back I tested it again - only to find the same fault. So I returned it to the service centre for a second time. This time I sent photos showing the error - the TM6 said current temp was 90C, my digital thermometer said 19C and when I put my hand into the liquid it was cold. Below is thermomix's response after the second service:

"Heating tests conducted on Thermomix and is working within manufacturers parameters.***Bowl temperature and food temperature may differ when start up cooking and requires time to stabilize temperature. eg: 1 litre of water takes 10 minutes with speed 1 to reach 100°C*** We compared our service TM6 with yours side by side and the outcome was the same."

So the summary is - do not trust the temperatures on the thermomix for the first 10 minutes!!! That explains why the temp was accurate when I checked for sous vide, it had been on for some time. But for anything quicker ignore what the temp says it will be wrong - use a digital thermometer. I wonder how many people are using this device thinking that it is accurate.
