Discounting the unknown amount of Lex clones, around 25 people died in this season. I couldn't find an exact number, and couldn't find more detailed notes of this season.

Demiurge

Tom Welling and Michael Rosebaum have a podcast coming out next month called talkville a rewatch podcast.

Man this journey has been a long but such a thrilling one to be on with you. While Smallville tells the tale of how a freshman farmboy becomes one of the greatest heroes of all time, it's largely about the people in Clark's life, which is why this finale holds up incredibly well. The action is always epic and too short but at the same time, it's a testament to Clark's character having all of these emotional reunions and memories (particularly Jonathan). What I love as well is how imperfect he is, while his powers may graft him in the image of a god/deity, he's also very human and a prime example of someone who can rise above their impurities and doubts in order to 'soar to new heights', so to speak. Not at all possible though without everyone in his life, they shaped him and made him the hero he is and will become. It's easy to disregard this fact because either people don't like certain characters and let their bias get in the way or think since it's a show about 'Superman' (which it isn't) that it should be very action-focused. I was 13 when the finale aired, maybe a little too young to have understood the entire show I'd watched up until that point but, it feels just as good as it did then with this conclusion. Thank you so much for watching this show.

Tess erasing Lex's memory seems like it doesn't make sense initially, but Lex isn't supposed to know that Clark is Superman, plus it is the ultimate sign of loyalty and is in fact the redemption Tess was looking for all along, and though Clark could never save lex or Lionel from “being a Luthor”, he did save Tess from that fate, like she tells Lex on her deathbed. I've always thought it was excellent writing.

Louis Febre’s score soars in this finale, watching this again brings back so many great memories

I remember when the finale first aired. It hit me right in the feels. Also, the TV show may have ended, but smallville did continue for an 11th season in comic book form. If you're interested, I'd recommend checking it out

This IS my favorite show of all time. Not perfect, but it held up for TEN seasons. That's darn impressive. Even if Sam Jones III was willing to come back, I honestly don't think Pete would've fit here. Anyway, here are my suggestions: Lois & Clark, just introduced it to my sister and it's my second favorite Superman show after this. My other suggestion is Merlin (on Netflix). It's a fantasy series, so something a little different. It ran around the same time as this show and it has a similar formula. I think you'd really enjoy it.

Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are currently in discussions with the creator's of Smallville, Al Gough and Miles Millar, about bringing back Smallville as an animated series where all the cast members (with the exception of Allison Mack aka Chloe due to her being in jail) to reprise their roles via voice over. Fingers crossed it gets greenlit!
