This is a movie that I like the premise more than I liked the execution of the plot. If that makes any sense. I've never been a fan of the ending. I actually wrote a short story with a somewhat similar amnesia premise. It takes place in a Basque fishing village over a thousand years ago, and a preteen girl has a father with a 48-hour (not 24) memory. When he had his accident, his wife was pregnant with her so he remembers that but every 48 hours he wakes up with no idea who his daughter is. The mother has since passed away and basically every couple days this young girl has to explain all of this to him and spend what little time she has with him before he forgets her again. There is no sugarcoating it or somehow making the situation happy. That's a tragic situation that will always be tragic and can't be fixed. That's my main gripe with this film. I don't buy that just making a video tape explaining to this woman that she has amnesia and has a family is all it takes and that she just immediately accepts it for the next 24 hours. She was comfortable enough with Henry in that amount of time to marry him and have a kid? How in the world did the pregnancy go? That must've been terrifying for her. I don't think anyone with this amnesia in real life could have that happy ending.
