This was a beautiful episode and yes although all the flash backs (and new 'book' stuff) served the story, they did (as you said) remind us of the fun and drama we all shared in watching all the seasons of this great and unique Show- and it was beginning to feel like goodbye at this point...therefore, as well as funny at times, showing story and character development, it was also very poignant. I am going to miss it so much.
