Time to vote on what I'll be covering next month :)
As the usual guaranteed topics, we have:
Linux News, because of course we do, 5 of them in November, on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th (my 37th birthday, incidentally).
And then I decoded to let you decide on all the rest of the topics! I have 5 ideas, and I'll make the 4 that get the most votes:
Windows is failing, but it won't help Linux: a look at all the antoi consumer stuff Windows is doing (ads, privacy invasion, force feeding AI, buggy updates, pushing Edge, etc...), and why I don't think this will really push Linux's market share too much in the long run
Chrome is dead, what should you use now? A clickbaity title for a look at the options you can still use if the death of good extensions on Chrome is annoying to you. It will be focused on Linux, but should work for any user of any OS. It will be a nice occasion to look at newer stuff, like Zen or Floorp or whatever other weird browser they have invented recently!
Fixing my Linux problems: I listed a bunch of Linux problems in various Patroncast over the past few months, and I found solutions for some, but not all, so I thought it could be nice to list all of that in a video
20 years of Ubuntu: what happened? I made a "history of Ubuntu" way back at the very start of the channel, and it was a fun retrospective, so I thought why not redo it, better, and for the 20th anniversary of the distro that really kickstarted desktop Linux
I used Windows for 30 days: you know the drill, couldn't fit that one this month, but the next one should be much easier (because I don't have as much lessons to give in November, so I have a lot more free time)

I was with my co-workers and we ended up with the same conclusion. Rooting is way too risky and Fairphone are a good deal.

2024-10-23 10:50:47 +0000 UTCI dabbled in that topic when I looked at /e/, but I'll be honest, I've lost all interest for tinkering on my phone, it's now just a basic tool that I don't really care about. My next one will likely be a Fairphone with /e/, and I'll stop at that!

2024-10-23 10:50:32 +0000 UTC+1 for that one. Phone manufacturers abandoning old hardware leave people who can't buy new phones more vulnerable to security risks. Since nor the hardware or the software are open source, it's really hard to get around this. I would personally love to see the topics of open phones more, especially outside the EU/US where the likes of pine phone aren't really accessible

2024-10-22 22:32:29 +0000 UTC(#5) I think your audience fully understands the obstructions and failings of windows without another demonstration of it's user abusive design and invasive practices. (#1) Wherever another windows ship sinks, i it raises the visibility of our Linux rescue boats.

2024-10-22 10:20:52 +0000 UTCNick, if you do the web browsers video, I think that it would be a good idea to include a section where you showcase and explain some privacy enhancing extensions, like ublock origin and ublock lite, that way everyone can enjoy at least some privacy benefits no matter the installed browser :)
