Lana has really changed since the first few seasons. Humans exposed to kryptonite often develop a kryptonite-inspired psychosis, where they lose contact with reality and become obsessed with following their natural instincts, even with temporary superpowers. However, not everyone who gets powers develops this psychosis, or use it to kill. So, it could be said that it enhances feelings and instincts already in the person.

2021-04-16 21:48:26 +0000 UTCThis episode truly showed how Clark and Lana outgrew each other yet was stuck with who they both use to be, especially when it comes to Clark to Lana. He held her to such a rainbow status that he truly didn't recognize how much she has changed since the days of him having a crush on the girl next door. I loved when Lionel asked Clark, " You sure? Have you ever allowed yourself to take a really honest look at Lana? Have you?" All of us know that he didn't take a honest look at Lana. The relationship between Lex and Lana truly changed Lana and this was a wake up call for Clark with how much. Lex also was correct in stating that Lana's obsession with him was stronger than her love for Clark. Clark/Lana reuniting this season as quickly as they did after everything that happened was never going to turn out good beause they never truly talked about what happened and how it affected them. They tried to recapture what they had and assume things would be how they were but so much has changed. Lana changed after Paris and more since she got with Lex and all the stuff she said about Clark just staying in that farm and doing nothing was really how she felt. Unforunately she needed to get his powers for Clark could see how much she had changed. Lana isn't bad but Clark and Lana are just not in the same place right now.

Most fans were fatigued by them at this point but I was in favor of them giving it another go to prove that even with Clark's secret out, they're just not good for each other. Clana stans would've been able to hold that "what if" over our heads forever otherwise.
