Ecto Containment Unit - Part 4 - Door Interface

Updated on Sept 17, 2025 with a few small part modifications to better support the larger containment unit build. This is a 3D printable Ecto Containment unit door and interface prop.

Updated on Sept 30, 2025 a subscriber reported that the zip file was missing the interior panel that the trap clip attaches to. Re-download the attached zip to get this part.

Greetings! After a posting hiatus since this summer, I am back with a new project - a 3D printable containment unit door and trap interface. This project is designed to work with the 3D printable movie trap available here. Additionally, I have verified that this build is compatible with the size of the Haslab 'Two in the Box' Ghost Trap.

(UPDATE: I have designed a few new trap cartridge clips to support the Haslab and 3D printable versions of the ghost trap!)

This is a relatively simple build - you'll need...

I downloaded the file set to check - do you not have Portal-Interior-InteriorPanel-Black.stl?

Nate Miller

Hi, I can't find the portal interior front (in the builder it's portal/interior/interior. I know you were making some changes, but I downloaded files in October (just redownloaded, still not there).

im pretty much done printing all the parts and im curious, what is uses for the hinge? like is there a very long bolt?

Brian olson

Good catch! I updated and re-uploaded the attached zip file to include this missing piece.

Nate Miller

I'm getting ready to start printing the door. I noticed the Portal interior piece seems to be missing... I see all the other portal pieces, just not the interior that holds the trap clips...

Note to builders - as of September 17, 2025, I have updated the files in this post. 95% of the files are the same. However, I made a few small tweaks to ensure better compatibility with the overall Ecto Containment Unit build. The good news is that if you already built the original Door+Interface, you can still make it work. These updates will just make future builds a but easier.

Hi, I noticed you mentioned "3mm and 4mm hex screw assortments." However, I don’t see a breakdown of the specific screws used in your Power BI report. Did you provide any guidance or outline on which screws should be used and where?

Robert Walker

I designed that Haslab adapter today. Will put files up tomorrow. It’ll be ‘plug-and-play’ with the files included here

Nate Miller

Does this have the updates for the Two in a box trap I saw on Insta?

Sean Lopez

it be cool you did the real ghostbusters front port .

johann Cleveland

It should fit traps that are close to standard size. I’m anticipating I’ll need to adjust the cartridge clip for the Haslab trap (if it ever gets here)

Nate Miller

I’ll likely keep making printable components/parts. For the main body of the unit, I’ll likely do something out of wood as that’d be more economical than printing component parts

Nate Miller

yes i was planning to make one to but this is awsome i got to test it out

johann Cleveland

Is this kind of a one-off? Or are you planning on other parts for a containment unit?

Joe

This is very cool !

Nicholas Michelsen

Nice job! You've definitely put a lot of work into this, really digging the look of the portal at the back! We never get to see it in the film, but this feels like it belongs there

prodestrian

Omg, this is exactly what I was wanting to do next! Will there be much wiggle room for alternate traps? All of mine started life as disguise units.

This is gonna be a fun print 😁
