'Reimagined' Firehouse Playset - PART 1 - Ground Floor

I remember waking up one Christmas morning in the late 1980s to find a special present waiting for me - it was a large box. Inside contained a playset I have kept to this day: The Kenner Firehouse Playset! Over the years of my childhood it served as home to the Ghostbusters, a base for Batman villains, and the Daily Bugle from Spider-Man.

But this playset was not without it's flaws: The garage wasn't long enough to fit the entire Ectomobile - and you couldn't drive the Ecto through the archway with the roof-mounted gunner seat! There was only a partial second floor that had little play value (Note: Here is a 3D printable platform to complete this floor).

While the original Kenner Firehouse playset is iconic for us 80s/90s kids, I recently became inspired to revisit and reimaging this playset with my skills in 3D modeling and printing. I wanted to 'scale up' the playset for the Kenner figures:

• I wanted the design to reflect the design and details of the Hook & Ladder 8 building in New York.
• The Kenner Ectomobile should have a more spacious, longer garage and a taller archway
• The floors should be taller with more play area for the figures.
• Moreover, I REALLY like the Playmobile Firehouse playset - in many ways this 'Reimagined' playset scales up some of those play features for use with the Kenner figures.

I should also note that my goal here is not to create an accurately scaled firehouse replica Hook & Ladder 8 for the Kenner figures - that model would be massive. Instead this model attempts to retain the spirit of a playset that is meant to have 'play value' for taking the Kenner figures on various adventures.

This first release is the Ground Floor - it has files for the garage base and the lower stonework. We're only going up from here. My hope is that some of you will embark on this build over the holiday season and share it with some of the junior Ghostbusters in your life - and play with it!
