Custom R.T.V. Body for Arrma Voltage RC 2WD 1/10 Truck

There are many flavors of R.T.V.s (Remote Trap Vehicle) popping up these days. The Ghostbusters Afterlife prop is arguably one of the most creative concepts in the new movie and was the focus of two extremely fun ghost chasing sequences.
Admittedly, I'm a bit of a novice to the RC hobby world. The 'screen accurate' prop used an RC rig that is quite expensive. As an alternative, I came on the Arrma Voltage RC 2WD 1/10 truck as an affordable point of entry (retails ~$120 USD). The Voltage is fast, fun, and much easier on the pocket book. Here is a clip of it in action!
Ultimately I wanted something fun to drive and that I could design around with minimal modification - no, it is not screen accurate! The trap also shares many parts with the movie trap I released in November!
I was also keen to add in some practical features to my custom R.T.V.
- Modular design - The custom RTV is built in four main sections: 1. The battery/handle section, 2. the main body section, 3. the front nose section, and 4, the cartridge. Already my own trap has incurred damage from some hard 'stunt driving'. The modular design lets me replace a part without having to re-print the whole thing. I also have some upgrades in mind so the sections are all swappable!
- Retractable handle - I designed a new handle for the trap that slips down the side of the battery compartment. The original "L"-shaped trap handle is a common point of failure for many of these clunky boxes. It makes less design sense on a high-speed and heavier RC. Plus - it might get snagged or snap when the RTV takes a tumble (yes, this happens A LOT).
- Top-loaded trap cartridge - I felt that the it made some sense to think of the RTV as having a trap cartridges that could easily be removed without detaching the entire case from the RC. Here I designed a 'top loaded' cartridge that - when removed - gives me access to the battery hookup and allows me to inspect the insides. The cartridge in this download is 'static' with non-operable doors - which is great for stunt driving. (I will publish an upgrade cartridge with operable doors in the future!)
This post is an 'early release' for Patrons - this post will be made available to the public on April 30! Some exclusive upgrades for Patrons are coming soon!
