I've tried to be flexible about MC's being able to be hesitant, flirty without committing, or just not commit to a particular person immediately. At the moment I'm outlining Chapter 6 and there are points there where you can initiate something with some of the characters. There's one in Chapter 5 where you have to make a decision one way or another, but it should be clear what's going on - I'm trying to make it clear in the story that it's an important moment and This Is The Last Chance You Have To Express Your Feelings In Whatever Direction. Hopefully it will be obvious!
