I drew the mascot for OkiCon (https://www.okicon.org) which is a convention in Norman, OK that will be my last show of the year. I drew the mascot for them (the original mascot art was already pretty cute, tbh) and we'll see how they end up using this artwork. I always love drawing cowgirls so I was happy to do this.
Though as I was posting this I realized I forgot to color a very small portion of the lasso that was supposed to have leather on it, oops. I will not be able to unsee it but hopefully nobody notices...

This is the sketch I worked off of. I gave the director 4 sketches and this is the one he chose. I did end up moving the lasso portion to her left hand.

The lineart! I almost never do a proper pencils stage anymore, so I did this directly from the sketch above. I changed her hat a little because I realized I was drawing a different hat from what the mascot wears.

Silhouette... I did silhouettes because the rope and girl are in different layer folders.

Flat colors! If I am being honest, I wanted to change the color of the ribbons but I did not want to deviate too much from the original design.

Shadows! These look a lot darker than the final version. I used my normal color for warm shadows for the FaLLEN comics but knew I would change them so they would not be this dark so this was more like a placeholder color. She's a mascot, gotta make things pop more.

Lights and color gradations!

I did end up changing her bandana after I took this screenshot, but you can see what is mostly the final version here. Added some textures, line effects, and changed her shadows. The shadows I changed to a blue color and then set it to "color burn" at about 60% opacity. All those brown shadows have more red in them now and aren't as dark. I thought about changing the line art to a blue color but I am so old fashioned, I just love black lines, what can I say.
