It's short, I know, but this is what the original version of Buildings was going to sound like! Pretty different right?

This version dates back to late July 2023 I believe, so it was one of the first songs I wrote for the album. The verses are super short, and I wrote extra bits obviously for the end product. But yeah, in this early era I was totally unsure as to what the album should sound like, and this was before I decided I wanted it to have and overall kind of folk rock tinge to it. Obviously the album is far more diverse than just folk rock, but the album version of Buildings has a banjo solo so what more can I say!

I do prefer the album version to this demo, but I think it's still pretty good. It was just an experiment having the voices of Chester and Marshall speak throughout the song. Originally, I was going to have that more often but I decided against it because I just felt it would get in the way of the music too much. The only place I did have the voices of Chester and Marshall was at the very end of the final track, 'Ghosts'.

Someone told me like a month ago that it would be really cool to make a short film (or a longer one) of Dec 13th 1998, and I can't get that idea out of my head tbh. One day I will !!
