#019: Snowpocalypse
Added 2021-02-23 23:46:41 +0000 UTCThis past week, my fellow Texans and I experienced a terrible winter storm - we got hit with snow, ice, freezing rain, and several days where the temperature never raised above freezing. During this storm, our state's electrical grid suffered massive failures, and most of Texas was without power for the majority of this winter weather. I spent three days without electricity, and four days without running water - and I was luckier than many. Our apartment was at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit for the three days our power was out. Also, our roads were impassable, being covered with ice. It was scary, and difficult, and painful - and myself and a lot of other people will be dealing with the effects of last week for a while.
But, part of my processing is art and humor - so please understand I'm not taking this trauma lightly. But I also think that it's okay to laugh at the non-dangerous parts of our own situation as a way to work through it. Lots of love and support to all my fellow Texans who went through this with me. And to everyone who was able to get out and help people be safer during all of this - thank you! Your kindness saved lives.
And Texas Doms: ...maybe go easy on the ice for a while, huh?
