Lamia Undressing (mostly SFW)
Added 2025-06-29 17:35:26 +0000 UTCThis is an illustration I did for the new graphic novel featuring Lamia slipping out of her guardian uniform. I originally drew this for the black and white graphic novel as a title page for Chapter 5 "Hush" but it was one of my favorites and I went ahead and did a color version for the new book. Even though she is technically topless, I wanted this to be safe enough for a book rated Teen. And maybe I'm just way out of the loop for what is acceptable for a teen book?? I did live in Japan for 16 years... my mind has been pretty warped haha.
Took me a while to do this because my kid had a morning summer camp and driving her to and from somehow completely wrecked my schedule for a week. It really only took me 1.5 work days but that was spread out since I was gone so much. This should have been done in one day, if I'm being honest.
I was planning on starting Ch. 6 this weekend but as I have explained I fell a little behind, so give me a couple more days and I'll post the title page for that. Very excited and nervous to do the next chapter because it shows off a lot of town landscapes and interiors shots of shops and such. I have exactly one more page I need to finish (mini comic) for the book and then it is going to print.
Process Images
The original! There was a lot of dead space above her because that's where the title originally went. I loved working on her disheveled braid in the original. I like drawing braids but I hate coloring them, heh.
Lineart! I made her eyes a little smaller and drew most of the rest of her body so I could move everything up and fill that dead space a bit more. Her bikini top got moved down, too.
Silhouettes...
Flat colors.
Shadows... I actually combined some steps. I did gradations, more shadows, and some line effects on this step.
Made adjustments, softened some of her shadow outlines, which I don't usually do. Added some patterns and textures, etc. Not much to it, but I hope people enjoy it!
